New York city- Clothing
The Bowery Mission
The Bowery Mission meets urgent needs and creates transformative community, helping people overcome homelessness and poverty through the love of Jesus.
When you donate food, personal care products or clothing to The Bowery Mission, you impact the lives of people struggling with homelessness and poverty in New York City. Clean clothes provide a great deal of relief to a neighbor experiencing homelessness. After being out on the streets or in the subways, guests at the Bowery Mission feel a sense of restored dignity from a change of clothing. Donations of professional attire also help guests who are interviewing for jobs.
Donations are accepted on Monday - Sunday from 9:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. & 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. at the Bowery Campus (227 Bowery, New York, NY 10002). No appointment needed. For more information, visit here.
The door
The Door’s mission is to empower young people to reach their potential by providing comprehensive youth development services in a diverse and caring environment. The door serves up to 11,000 youth annually across our four New York City locations, including their lower Manhattan and South Bronx youth centers and two supportive housing sites on the Lower East Side. Broome Street Academy (BSA), a charter high school embedded at The Door, enrolls up to 330 students and prioritizes applicants who are experiencing housing instability or have been involved in the child welfare system.
The organization’s clothing closet, dubbed The Door Store, is intended to be a means for young people to select clothing they would feel empowered and confident in wearing. They are currently accepting:
Gently used or new casual and stylish clothing geared towards 12 to 24 years olds
Gently used or new sneakers and boots
Gently used or new business casual attire
Gently used or new accessories (belts, ties, and purses)

So much more than a shelter, they provide affirming and transformative services so each young person can create their own path to independence. Their doors are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Your donation will go directly to those using their shelter services.
Covenant House does not accept any unapproved dropped-off donations, but if you are interested in making an In-Kind donation, please email inkinddonations@covenanthouse.org. Monrovian Open Door
Moravian Open Door is a not-for-profit (501c-3) organization committed to providing transitional housing and supportive services to the homeless, distressed and underserved population of New York City. Their ministry serves those individuals who are fifty and older with the goal of helping them regain their independence and security, and assisting them in moving to appropriate, permanent facilities.
MOD is not a drop-in shelter or a nursing facility, but is a safe, clean, drug and alcohol-free transitional home (called Moravian House) that provides private and semi-private rooms for up to 41 homeless adults who are just “one step away” from independence. Individuals come to MOD recommended by a shelter or agency in New York. Upon admission, each new resident receives a personal service plan to address the causes of homelessness and to build greater self-reliance. Your donation will go directly to those using their facilities.
You can drop off your donation at 347 E. 18th St., between 1st Ave and 2nd Ave. For more information on their current needs, visit here.
NEON (Neighborhood opportunity network)
https://www.nyc.gov/site/neon/index.page
The Neighborhood Opportunity Network (NeON), launched in 2011, has gained national recognition for its innovative approach to community-based support. NeON represents a philosophy of effective intervention, realized through a network of centers in seven NYC neighborhoods with high concentrations of individuals on probation.
Each NeON center hosts a local Stakeholder Group, open to community members and typically including representatives from local organizations, clergy, and business owners. At NeON centers, individuals under supervision can meet with their Probation Officers and access a variety of services, such as HSE classes, job readiness programs, mentoring, healthcare, and literacy support. Additionally, arts and sports programs selected by the Stakeholder Groups are available, many of which are free and open to all neighborhood residents.
NeON operates Clothing Closets across all five boroughs, which offer a wide selection of new and gently used business attire, casual wear, shoes, and accessories. These items are available to help the community and people on probation present themselves confidently in various settings.
To donate, visit their website, select which borough you would like to donate to, and fill out the contact form to schedule a donation drop off.
